Yes, we cook sometimes

This is what I call "Soul Food Night" at kona ranch. We get to use all our pans at once for preparing black eyed peas, collard greens, macaroni & cheese, and sometimes cornbread. Then the pseudomeat patty simply heated in the microwave rounds out our meal.

These are store-bought frozen collards. They're OK, but I much prefer the ones txrad grows in our garden. We'll probably be able to start picking some leaves from those before the end of the year.

The wet and dry ingredients for the cornbread are on standby waiting on the mac & cheese to finish in the oven.

And the cheese sauce was being prepared by txrad for the macaroni.

Video of this event would be highly entertaining. Pictures alone do not convey the full story. This is a more complex meal than most we prepare. And txrad gets rather frustrated by the fact that I don't use a recipe, instead pulling it from my head, or in some cases, making it up as I go along.

Mix in some tequila consumption during this process and we have a real show!

Needless to say, the kitchen is always a disaster the next morning because intoxication does not lend itself to clean-up immediately after cooking. Sorry, no picture of that mess. Maybe next time.
